We are excited to expand our farm into the forest with the production of log-grown shiitake mushrooms! These gorgeous mushrooms are altogether different than the little shriveled things you typically find at natural food stores. Those shiitakes are grown on bags filled with sawdust, inside, in a climate-controlled environment. Our’s are grown on hardwood logs from our forest, outside, under the forest canopy. The appearance and taste are worlds apart!
We will have fresh shiitakes available regularly from late April through October. Dried shiitakes may be available later in the season. All are Certified-Organic by MOFGA.
It continues to fascinate and baffle that we can directly turn wood into delicious, extremely healthful and nourishing food. Mushrooms are magical!
